Horsey Hundred

History

The Horsey Hundred is the premier cycling event in Kentucky and the signature event of the Bluegrass Cycling Club. We’ve come a long way since the inaugural Horsey Hundred was held at the Kentucky Horse Park (Lexington, KY) in 1978. The first event featured 50-mile routes on Saturday and Sunday with an optional Century ride on Saturday.   No records exist of how many participated the first year, but the next year (1979) had 65 participants. The event now hosts some 3,000 riders.

From 1980 – 1982 the Horsey Hundred was held at Midway College (Midway, KY). In 1983 the Horsey Hundred moved to Georgetown College in Georgetown, KY which remains our home today.

The Ride

The weekend begins with fun and festivities on Friday featuring optional rides throughout the Bluegrass Region with the Bluegrass Cycling Club, a large number of cycling related vendors, food trucks and entertainment. Saturday is the flagship day with five route choices ranging from 25 miles to the iconic Century. On Sunday you have your choice of four rides ranging from 25 – 75 miles. On either day you will wind your way through and around the Bluegrass region and be treated to some of the most beautiful scenery you can imagine including horse farms, stone fences, rivers, streams, lush pastures, historic towns, and bourbon distilleries. The ride is fully supported with frequent rest stops featuring the right nutritional, as well as delicious, items chosen to fuel your ride.

You must register directly at the event website!

5 Saturday routes, 4 Sunday routes

The Horsey Hundred features a full array of routes for every ability level, from rolling 25 miles to a challenging century. You will ride through picturesque, rolling, central Kentucky horse farm country and see stone fences, small towns, and plenty of horses. We have rest stops every 15-25 miles.

Where: Saturday and Sunday routes start just inside the entrance to Georgetown College in Georgetown, KY.

Maps and road markings:  All routes are marked with color-coded arrows (as shown in the descriptions below) and supplementary signs. The Ride With GPS mobile app provides a comprehensive way to navigate the routes and other services.
